Data Reliability Engineer III

Position Summary:
The Data Reliability Engineering team is a pillar of the Services Enablement Engineering organization. Our team owns the overall scalability, observability and resilience of the databases, stream processing platforms and in-memory key-value stores powering SiriusXM and Pandora. We work in partnership with a broad collection of cross-functional engineering teams to improve velocity, efficiency and performance while providing the paved-path frameworks making it easy for service teams to “do the right thing.”
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support existing databases, Redis caches and Kafka clusters at SXM/P
• Automate operational toil via scripting, infrastructure-as-code utilities and third-party applications
• Give advice to service owners on industry and company standards and best practices.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• None.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 5+ years scripting experience preferably in Python
• Monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana and ELK Stack
• Experience with one or more of the following:
o Open source SQL databases like PostgreSQL
o Data streaming technologies - Kafka, Kafka Connect, KStreams, KSQL
o In-memory key-value Stores like Redis.
• Cloud computing - Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services
• Automated deployment procedures using dev-ops tooling like Ansible and Terraform
• Developing for Linux-based deployment platforms,

Technical Skills:
• Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Developing SQL applications of significant complexity
• Web frameworks like Django
• Data warehouse technologies: MapReduce, HDFS, Hive, Tez, Spark, Sqoop
