Minimally Required Deliverables/Tasks
Documentation Specialist/Technical Writer (Advanced #5800)
Creating and maintaining IT documentation.
Translating technical and/or complicated information into clear, concise documents appropriate for various target audiences.
Working with Developers, Quality Assurance, and Architects to produce a wide variety of technical specifications, technical manuals, and product documentation.
Interviewing subject matter experts and technical staff to collect information, prepare written text, and coordinate layout and material organization.
Researching information such as drawings, design reports, equipment, and test specifications to fill any gaps.
Reviewing, critiquing, and editing documentation including design documents, programmer notes, and system overviews.
Maintaining an internal documentation library, providing and/or coordinating special documentation services as required, and providing oversight of special projects.
Documenting requirements and traceability in tools to include ALM, TFS, and ServiceNow.
Developing technical specifications templates.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
1) Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technical writing, or a related field.
2) Foundational experience with .NET, Java, or C# in a professional environment is preferred.
3) Three to five years of business or technical writing experience and working knowledge of multiple programming languages.
4) Three to five years of experience in writing technical documentation for webbased software systems.
5) Possess familiarity with version control software.
6) Possess the ability to understand .Net code.
7) Proficient with on time delivery of services with minimal supervision.
8) Demonstrate advance knowledge of SDLC processes.
9) Demonstrate advance knowledge of application development domain areas and specific technologies and tool set such as Git and Github, .net, TFS, and DEVOPS.
10) Advance computer skills in Microsoft suite including Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint, Word, Project, and Visio.
11) Strong knowledge of web applications, client server applications, and database concepts.
12) Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group and subject matter experts.
13) Strong organizational and/or project management skills and excellent writing and editing skills.
