Position: Business Analyst
Duration: 1 year
Location: Montgomery, AL (Onsite from day1)
Position Description: 
 
Skills Required:
 
  • Work independently with users to define concepts and needs for the surveillance data SQL server.
  • Receive and manage requests for data server access, database/table/view creation, data transformations and technical assistance.
  • Import and export different forms of data using SAS, RStudio, SQL, etc.
  • Establish processes and utilize software to review and analyse data updates and quality (e.g., Excel, SAS, SQL, Tableau, Crystal Reports).
  • Interface with technical and program leads to create a 12-month plan for receiving data from ~90 hospitals and urgent care centres. Learn existing system and applications from current staff.]
  • Work independently with hospitals and their electronic records vendors to establish communication ports with ADPH, validate test messages, determine when standards for production are met, and execute trading partner agreements.
  • Employ strong and professional verbal and written communication to engage hospitals, staff at all levels, and federal partners.
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise on the process for onboarding hospitals including standards for transmission of electronic data on hospital emergency visits.
  • Understand, translate and validate HL7 SyS messages for content and structure
  • Develop and update data quality protocols and monitoring plan for existing surveillance data and new electronic data submissions.
  • Work closely with the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention Bio Sense technical team and hospital technical staff to resolve data transmission and data quality deficiencies. Support project managers, provide metrics, and project updates as requested by the technical and program manager and as required for federal cooperative agreements.
  • Required Knowledge: This individual must be able to learn processes, systems and tools as they relate to the team and the program.
  • The successful candidate must have the ability to understand business requirements and translate these requirements into written specifications.

Experience Required:
 
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in business analysis or a related field. Microsoft Access, Excel and Word.

Experience Preferred:
 
  • Strongly Preferred: SAS/RStudio Microsoft Access and/or SQL experience.
 
Education Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or another related field. Or equivalent work experience.
