Position: Business Process Consultant
Duration: 4 months
Location: Boca Raton, FL

 
Tasks and Qualifications
  • Gather, analyze, document and validate user requirements.
  • Assist in the business process redesign and documentation, as needed.
  • Translate high level business requirements into functional specifications and manage changes to such specifications.
  • Chart existing business processes in order to define current business activities for the development of procedures and model
  • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals.
  • Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
  • Prototype new procedures for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives for improving processes in operating systems across the organization.
  • Identify and establish scope and parameters of process analysis in order to define impact, outcome criteria, and measure-taking actions.
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain new or improved processes based on findings and analysis.
  • Communicate process changes, enhancements, and modifications – verbally or through written documentation – to management, peers, staff, and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood. Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmers
  • Liaise with various business, and IT, groups in the organization to facilitate implementation of new or improved business processes.
  • Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new processes, and other post-implementation support.
  • Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members.
 
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
  • 8+ years’ experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodology development, and data modeling.
  • 5+ years’ experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.
  • Experience with financial analysis, including the ability to apply complex accounting principles, a working knowledge of accounting processes, procedures and internal controls.
  • Experience in the operation and analysis of database and application software, standards, and data retrieval methodologies.
  • Experience with importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flowcharts
  • Experience working within a structured Project Management environment.
  • Knowledge of Information Systems Development Methodology (ISDM).
  • Ability to be creative, to use sound judgment, and to display foresight to identify potential problems and design/specifications.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, oral and written communication skills
 
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
  • Certification(s) from the IIBA (International Institute of Business Analysis), based on the BABOK (Business Analysis Body of Knowledge).
  • Experience with standard principles of accounting, such as GAAP or International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and/or PHP.
  • Experience with database query tools such as TOAD and/or SQL Developer.
  • Experience with UML (Unified Modelling Language).
  • Experience with environmental regulatory business processes and practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile development, specifically Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP) and Kanban.
  • Knowledge and understanding of DEP’s technical environment.
  • Knowledge of various facilitation techniques to elicit business requirements and drive customer communications
