Job Description:

Basic Job Description:

•             Manages all key responsibilities of the IT operations in a multiuser environment for the PLDT Accelerator Lab (PAL).

•             Ensures infrastructure is configured to generate relevant metrics for uptime monitoring. 

•             Handles backups and disaster recovery for applications systems deployed to PAL. 

•             Configures tools to ingest monitoring data, develop alert criterion, manage application and infrastructure security and monitors and fine-tunes utilization of AWS resources. 

•             Implements measurement, optimization, and tuning of system performance and ensures that systems will run reliably and are highly available in a 24/7 development environment. 

•             Helps debug issues on platform, finding those non-performant queries, failures, etc.

Job Functions / Responsibilities:

•             Help manage overall site availability, latency, and system health.

•             Monitor environments and improve alert strategies in production.

•             Monitor and troubleshoot site performance issues.

•             Monitor for server and software vulnerabilities and execute upgrade and patching efforts.

•             Develop and manage configuration scripts for Amazon hosted infrastructure.

•             Work closely with the development team and management to ensure high availability and security.

•             Maintain cloud-based servers patching vulnerabilities, backup/restore operations, provision new servers, configure firewalls, configure monitoring systems.

•             Respond to alarms and outages on an as-needed basis.

•             Conduct root cause analysis of critical issues.

•             Expand the capacity and performance of the system.

•             Maintain primarily Linux and other types of systems

Qualifications and Skills

•             5 years as a system administrator supporting enterprise computing platforms and systems.

•             2+ years running production systems on AWS.

•             High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) planning and implementation.

•             Experience managing MySQL, Athena or similar databases on RDS.

•             Working knowledge of Python, PHP, SQL and Bash scripting desirable

•             Hands-on expertise in DevOps or CI/CD tools, like Jenkins, Maven, Git, Nexus, etc.

•             Working knowledge of continuous delivery using tools like Git, Maven, Jenkins etc. Docker experience a plus

•             Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes

•             Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet and Salt.

•             Good understanding of Terraform framework and best practices

•             Experience with site monitoring and log monitoring tools a plus

•             Background supporting distributed, server-based infrastructure supporting a high volume of transactions in a mission critical environment.

•             Passion for driving automation into how software development and delivery is done.

•             Experience with Testing Tools and methodologies Working knowledge in Unix/Linux environment.

•             Certified AWS SysOps Administrator preferred.

•             Candidate must be a US Person due to requirement to administer GovCloud infrastructure
