Role – SolarWinds Engineer

 

Location – Milford, CT

 

Responsibilities:

•       Maintain Development and Production SolarWinds Orion Environments

•       Responsible for creation and management of nodes

o   Node types including:

o   Windows and Linux Servers

o   Network Devices (Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Access Points, etc.)

o   VMware (ESXi) host servers

o   Various appliances

o   External nodes

•       Build and apply custom SAM templates

o   Example templates:

  Websites (HTTPS)

  Applications

  Services

  TCP/IP Port Monitors

  Custom Powershell monitors

  Custom Linux monitors

  Monitoring of APIs

•       Create and Modify SolarWinds Dashboards (Views)

•       Create Custom Reports to track application performance and business metrics

•       Configure new alerts and modify existing alerts as needed

•       Configure Web Performance Monitor (WPM) recordings for websites

•       Develop PowerShell scripts for monitoring needs

•       Develop scripts to automate actions within SolarWinds via the SolarWinds API

•       Assist L1 Systems Operations and Monitoring team with monitoring escalations

•       Provide on-call support as needed

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

•       3+ Years SolarWinds Administration experience

•       Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

•       Strong problem solving and analytical skills

•       Strong understanding of the following SolarWinds components:

o   Network Performance Monitor (NPM)

o   Server and Application Monitor (SAM)

o   Web Performance Monitor (WPM)

o   NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA)

•       Strong understanding of the SolarWinds API and an ability to create scripts to utilize the API

•       Strong understanding of Powershell and Linux scripting technologies

•       Familiarity with Windows Server and Linux operating systems

•       Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server

•       Familiarity with ICMP, SNMP, and WMI polling methods

•       SolarWinds Certified Processional (SCP) Preferred

•       Experience with Azure/AWS Preferred
