Network Manager (Telecommunications Manager Level 3)

Summary
Oversees highly advanced network infrastructure work including the directing of a team to perform activities associated with planning, designing, integrating and monitoring data telecommunication networks and analyzing existing hardware and software. Other responsibilities include developing policies and procedures, preparing budget recommendations, evaluating potential network enhancements and working with third-party service providers to deliver projects/solutions.
Reports to the ITD Network Operations Supervisor.
Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Must possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Oversees the team to perform these activities:
Oversee or conduct major studies regarding system usage, makes recommendations for improvements, and determines network system requirements.
Oversee performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of the network resources.
Review network system plans for completeness and accuracy, plans and schedules network studies and system implementations.
Analyze existing network and system procedures for efficiency and effectiveness. Analyze and define agency disaster recovery responsibilities and procedures.
Develop policies and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of local area network or wide area network environments.
Integrate local area network or wide area network requirements into the agency’s information resources and business plans.
Determine operational, technical, and support requirements for the location, installation, operation, and maintenance of data communications and agency network systems.
Evaluate network technologies for potential acquisition and directs the evaluation of various hardware and software resources to identify strengths, weaknesses, and potential benefits to the agency.
Hands on experience in Cisco switching/routing and LAN/WAN configuration for highly available systems.
Hands-on experience in design, deploying and maintaining data networking systems including routers, switches, firewalls, secure WiFi, and load balancing platforms.
Experience in configuring and troubleshooting of Network devices such as Cisco Routers Switches, Wireless Controllers & Access Points
Experienced in implementing multiple layer 3 protocols and network automation
