Technical Competencies:
A Cognos BI administrator has to spent most of his/her time on the web interface looking after the different KPIs and the performance of Cognos BI along with making certain changes that are required to be performed in a routine manner.
IBM Cognos Administration performs the following tasks.
• Administration, Installation, upgrade, migration, configuration, maintenance, technical support and troubleshooting of Cognos implementations in shared and dedicated production and non-production environments
• Good Understanding of Cognos administration and able to process Cognos admin related requests such as new application/project setup, security updates, and content migration
• Performs daily Cognos activities, such as report/package/cube deployments, managing users' access, monitoring schedules, and monitoring overall system
• Troubleshooting issues related to access, Framework Manager setup, Transformer setup, and folder permissions
• Examine IBM Cognos services and memory management and server management
• Should have knowledge on how to burst reports and burst key concepts
• Should be able to handle Multi-node configurations and IIS knowledge.
• Should have report migration and versions migrations exposer.
• Portal services administration, Scheduling and task automation, Monitoring Cognos and working with system KPIs, setting up resources such as shared paths and additional customizations (if required).
• Hands on experience with Linux and automation of scripts for Cognos hosted in AWS
• Examine audit logging and Indication Processing Facility logging, installation logs and configuration logs Perform dye tracing and Dynamic Query Mode (DQM) log
• Participate in and contribute to the implementation of best industry practices for Cognos
• Work with IT and business users to resolve support and technical questions
• Contribute to coordination and planning of Cognos/Database/Infrastructure related activities/outages
• Resolve Cognos software related issues on end user computers, Cognos login issues
• Submit Vulnerability Assessment test requests and take action to review, understand and remediate any test findings within the required deadlines.
• Ability to work with vendors: Create problem tickets, provide system logs/ screenshots
• Maintain Cognos environments – recycle Cognos services, verify platform health check
• ServiceNow ticket monitoring, acknowledgement, and processing
• Provide support for planned and unplanned COB events
• Conduct reviews of the environment to identify areas of improvement
• Security hardening (ex. permissions for users, managing capabilities for license types)
• Should have Cognos11.x exposer.
