Note: I’ve done a lot of work with this manager, he REALLY wants someone with a PhD, education is HUGE to him! From Job Description: M.S + 3 years’ experience or Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science or related highly quantitative fields. Additional years of experience highly preferred but not required. In the past he has looked over the MS candidates and gone for the PhD ones, put a focus on that. Thanks!
Required Qualifications
• Ability to independently translate scientific needs into data science problems by asking right questions, and delivering solutions by identifying necessary data, building models, and producing actionable results.
• Extensive experience analysing designed experiments and observational datasets using various statistical and machine learning techniques (e.g. linear fixed effects and mixed effects models, regression analysis,)
• Familiarity with ML techniques (decision trees, neural networks, SVMs)
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one scientific programming language (e.g. Python, R)
• Self-starter with ability work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, verbal, and written skills are required
• Critical thinking, strong problem-solving skills, flexibility, and willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience leading data science projects
• Familiarity with data science in Agriculture
• Familiarity with modelling biological systems
