Title: Sr SQL Engineer/Big Data Architect
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Duration: Long Term
Responsibilities:
Operational:
· Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving SQL database issues
· Implement and test software/server upgrades
· Stress test and optimize the system for efficiency (Indexes, cache...)
· Proactively monitor queries for excessive resource consumption
Strategic:
· Mentoring and creating standards/methodology for db code for readability, reliability, and performance
· Transitioning VM-based SQL server to Azure services where applicable
· Propose technical solutions, new db application design, process flows
· Identify and understand business needs to effectively design, develop, test, and deploy db backend
· Lead and guide solution framework for building a modern data warehouse or data lake repository
Skills/Technologies Preferred:
· Profound knowledge and ability to write Ad hoc Queries, stored procs, user defined functions, views and indexes
· Expertise with DDL and DML statements, RDBMSs, data dictionaries and normal forms
· Strong in performance tuning especially complex queries, stored procedures and indexing strategies.
· Experience with Azure SQL Database, Data Factory, Data Lake Storage, Databricks
· Experience with analytics/BI tools such as: Synapse, PowerBI, Tableau
· Hands on experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
· DR knowledge with Always On, SQL log shipping, DB mirroring, Replication
· Structured and unstructured data storage (Hadoop, Synapse, Snowflake, CosmosDB…)
· Analytic tools with capabilities such as predictive modeling and statistical analysis
· Up to date on the latest capabilities added to SQL Server
· Using a code repository to store and/or deploy scripts, preferably GitHub
Requirements:
· 7+ years' experience in SQL Server development (Stored Procedures, SSIS, SSRS…)
· 5+ years' experience in administering SQL Server (DBA or similar role)
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field
· Self-directed and able to prioritize own workload with ability to learn quickly and 'get things done'
· Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
· Entertainment industry experience helpful
